Photocopy of typescripts. Contains deed and transfer of title to Ammon M. Tenney, land agent for the Mormons, from Solomon and Morris Barth for land in St. Johns, Arizona and a written petition from the non-Mormons residents of St. Johns objecting to Mormon settlement in their area. Also includes a letter from LDS Church president John Taylor (1807-1887) confirming Udall's assignment as bishop over the St. Johns Ward and a letter from Udall to Marcus Baba de Padila, a local anti-Mormon leader, offering to schedule a public meeting to discuss their problems.

Missionary, Mormon Church; Tenney participated with the southern Utah militia against the Navajos, worked with Jacob Hamblin as missionary to the Hopi in 1858, and other mission assignments in northern New Mexico and Arizona.
